“Around 3pm on Thursday, five persons arrived in their Volkswagen Vento car. One posed as a Customs Commissioner, while the other as an ACP in Intelligence Bureau. The third one posed as a CBI officer. Others posed as investigating officers and began extorting Rs 1 lakh from shopkeepers of the area,” said a senior police officer. The men collected the money and made two shopkeepers sit in their car. A nearby shopkeeper smelled a rat and informed others in the area.

While four managed to escape, one identified as Surjeet, 55, from Shalimar Bagh, was arrested and handed over to the police. “We have identified the other persons and they will be arrested soon,” the officer added.
