“After temporary respite during the weekend, the maximum temperature over Delhi-NCR will rise rapidly. Temperatures may reach upto 44-45 degrees Celsius between May 16 and 20, leading to heat wave conditions over most parts of the Capital,” said OP Singh, DDGM, Regional Met Centre, Delhi.

These conditions will be the result of the absence of any western disturbance activity leading to a mainly clear sky and hot north-westerly winds.
The maximum temperature over Delhi-NCR will be around 45 degrees Celsius. This would be the first sustained heat wave condition during the current summer season, Singh added.

The maximum temperature on Saturday is expected to be 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 26 degrees Celsius.
