The police have also seized nearly 1,400 such shoes along with the machines used to manufacture them. All the seized goods, including the machines, are estimated to be worth around Rs 1.10 crore.
KK Vyas, deputy commissioner of police, said the accused Jaikishan Sapra was a businessman and was arrested after a raid at his footwear shop in north Delhi's Sadar Bazar. "Acting on a tip-off, we raided Sapra's shop and recovered 80 pairs of counterfeit shoes brandishing the false trademark of Spark and Relaxo Footwear Ltd," DCP Vyas said.
During interrogation, Sapra told the police that he had received the consignment of fake branded shoes from one Deepak Singhal of Bhagwati Footwear who runs a factory in outer Delhi's Mangolpuri.
