MCD to seek land from DDA to build more community halls

With a court order stopping the holding of marriages in parks in Delhi from next year, the MCD on Friday said it will seek land from DDA to build more community halls in the city.

With a court order stopping the holding of marriages in parks in Delhi from next year, the MCD on Friday said it will seek land from DDA to build more community halls in the city.

Leader of MCD House Subhash Arya said the civic body will construct more community halls. "We will ask for land from DDA for this," he said.

The Delhi High Court had in a recent order ordered that marriages could not be held in city parks from January one next year. Arya was speaking after a meeting of the MCD house.

Earlier, during the meeting, Congress and BSP councillors raised the issue of how merger of MCD schools was creating problems for people.

Mayor Kanwar Sain assured that no MCD school will be closed or merged.
