Neelam Katara, mother of Nitish Katara, on Tuesday met Congress General Secretary in-charge of Delhi Mukul Wasnik amid speculation that she may join the party and contest the Lok Sabha elections from the national capital.

Katara said the meeting was a courtesy call. “As of now there is no such proposal of joining the party,” she told PTI.

“Over the last few weeks, I have been thinking how I can be of any use to the people around me,” Katara said.

Hinting that she may join politics, Katara said “it is a democracy and let the people decide what they want me to do.”
