The development came during a meeting on Tuesday after the minister expressed displeasure over the FIU glossing over tax-evasion cases and focusing more on money laundering cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. On October 24, HT had reported how Chidambaram, annoyed with FIU for neglecting tax-evasion cases, had called for a review meeting. FIU is an independent body that reports to the Economic Intelligence Council headed by the FM on suspicious monetary transactions in banks.
