A two-member official team, deputed by the HRD ministry, to look into the indefinite stir by Pondicherry University students to press charter of demands, on Friday held talks with University stakeholders.
University sources told PTI that after the talks, the Central team met the chief secretary Manoj Parida at the Secretariat before leaving Puducherry.
Yesterday, the team, comprising University Grants Commission joint secretary KP Singh and the director of higher education in the HRD ministry Amit Shukla, had held talks with the vice chancellor Chandra Krishnamoorthy and registrar in charge G Panneeerselvam.
Local CPI unit secretary R Viswanathan, his CPI (M) counterpart R Rajangam and ruling AINRC legislator PML Kalyanasundaram also met the team separately and presented petitions Friday seeking Centre's intervention to end the student unrest.
Students, however, continued their agitation which entered the 12th day on Friday. The relay fast launched Thursday by some students also continued.
The students are agitating since July 27 demanding removal of the vice-chancellor for alleged 'administrative chaos' and 'violation of human rights'.
They are also demanding improvement in hostel facilities and other amenities.
