The top three candidates split 88.4% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Roopakala.M got a total of 71,151 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Ashwini Sampangi secured 30,324 votes. Republican Party Of India's candidate S.Rajendran grabbed the third spot with 20,393 votes. The top three parties got 51.6%, 22.0% and 14.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramakka .Y beat Janata Dal (Secular)'s M. Backthavachalam by 26,022 votes.
