Lobo by a margin of 16,075 votes.
The top two candidates split 96.7% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's D. Vedavyasa Kamath got a total of 86,545 votes, while Indian National Congress's J. R. Lobo secured 70,470 votes. Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s candidate Sunil Kumar Bajal secured 2,329 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 53.3%, 43.4% and 1.4% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's J.R.Lobo defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's N. Yogish Bhat by 12,275 votes.
