Kal Ho Naa Ho turns 19: Karan Johar shares Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta's unseen pics from sets
Karan Johar has shared some unseen behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of the film Kal Ho Naa Ho as it completed 19 years of its release.
Karan Johar has dedicated a post to his 2003 film Kal Ho Naa Ho as it completed 19 years of its release on Sunday. He also shared a few rare behind-the-scenes pictures featuring the lead cast Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan and the child star Athit Naik who played the role of Preity's disabled brother Shiv in the film. Karan Johar had written the story and screenplay of the film directed by Nikkhil Advani. It was produced by Yash Johar and was his last film before his death in 2004.
Sharing the pictures on Instagram, Karan wrote, “An entire lifetime of memories, in a heartbeat! This film gave so much more than just that - it gave me joy, unbreakable bonds, a different lens for story telling and of course - the last film set I could be on with my father. And for that, I will forever be grateful to this film! #19YearsOfKalHoNaaHo.”
Filmmaker Siddharth Malhotra reacted to the post, "fondest memories of mine too as an assistant!" Saif Ali Khan's sister Saba Ali Khan commented, “One of my Favorite ones ...of bhai. And he and Preity and SRK are superb.”
A fan of the film wrote, “Please make something like this again.” Another called it “The Best Film of Dharma Productions”. One more fan commented, "Those movies was, is and will b 4ever "EPIC"...I always get goosebumps whenever I watch..indeed "as Soul Stirring".."Irreplaceable" Cheers !!!" “Not a movie, its an emotion,” read yet another comment. Many called it their “all time favourite movie.”
Kal Ho Naa Ho also starred Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth, Reema Lagoo, Lillete Dubey, Delnaaz Paul and Sonali Bendre. The tagline of the film was ‘A Story of a Lifetime ... In a Heartbeat’. It was the highest grossing Bollywood film of that year and won two National Awards – one for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for Best Music Direction and another for Sonu Nigam for the Best Male Playback Singer.
