She shared one such news article and wrote, “All this a fake propaganda by film mafia I have sold Emergency to @zeestudiosofficial and Thalaivii recovered all its cost before it's release. It's been two years since its release.” “Endless fake news is being circulated about me, please ignore those jinki jali padi hai (ignore those who are jealous of me),” she added.
Thalaivii is directed by Vijay. The bilingual film is a biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The film also starred Arvind Swami as ADMK founder and former state CM MG Ramachandran. It was one of the big budget films of 2021.
Recently, a report of ETimes claimed that the film distributor Zee Studios had paid an amount of ₹6 crore in advance to the makers, which is yet to be returned to them. It further added that since the last two years, the distributor has been reaching out to the makers through emails and phone calls, however, there has been no response. Reportedly, the matter will take a legal turn.
While Kangana was praised for her portrayal of Jayalalithaa for which she gained weight, the film couldn't perform as well as expected at the box office. According to Bollywood Hungama, it only earned around ₹1.46 crore at the domestic ticket window. However, some other reports claimed it crossed ₹4 crore worldwide.
Meanwhile, Kangana will be turning a year older on Thursday. She is currently in Udaipur, ahead of her special day. She shared some videos from the city and in one of them, she wrote, “Ignore changu mangu gang, just focus on my beauty.”
The actor will be next seen in her upcoming political drama, Emergency. In the film, she will be seen as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Besides this, she also has Tejas, Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda and The Incarnation: Sita in her pipeline. She recently wrapped up filming Chandramukhi 2.
