Brazil finished third in the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the second time in their history after defeating Mali 2-0 on Saturday. Mali were the more dominant side, but a horrible mistake by keeper Youssouf Koita allowed Alan to hand Brazil the lead. It was all Brazil after that and a composed finish by Yuri Alberto towards the end of the game clinched the match for the Selecao. Three-time winners Brazil were off a brilliant start in the tournament but a sensational hattrick by England striker Rhian Brewster handed them a heavy defeat in the semifinals. Mali were also completely outplayed by Spain and thanks to a brace by FC Barcelona striker Abel Ruiz, ‘La Roja’ reached the final of the competition for the fourth time in their history. 4:30 PM IST: Hello and welcome to the 3rd place playoff between Brazil and Mali.
Brazil have depended mainly on their link-up play to create chances for the strikers and on Saturday, they will once again depend on forwards Paulinho and Lincoln to control the game.
Mali, on the other hand, are well known for their pace and considering the form of both their strikers (Lasanna Ndiaye and Djemoussa Traore), the African heavyweights will not be an easy opponent.
