According to the police, a preliminary probe has revealed that the man was perched on a platform and trying to connect the hook of his safety belt, when he allegedly lost his balance and fell on the ground, along with an iron rod.

The police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC.

Assistant sub inspector, Bhim Singh, who is investigating the case, said the man was taken to the Civil Hospital by fellow construction workers. The doctors in the hospital declared him dead on arrival.

“The man is yet to be identified, since his family is yet to claim the body. The body will be kept in the mortuary for 72 hours as per the protocol. Fellow workers at the construction site said the man hailed from Gopalganj, Bihar,” said Singh.
