Labourer dies in Gurugram after metal pipe falls on her head from 4th floor

A 40-year-old construction labourer died at a residential building that was under construction near Ardee City in Sector 52 of Gurugram after a metal pipe from the fourth floor fell on her head on Tuesday evening, police said.

An FIR has been filed against the contractors under section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
Omwati Devi, 40, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was declared brought dead at a city government hospital.
Police teams have been sent to Rajasthan to nab one of the contractors, said Suresh Kumar, assistant sub-inspector, who is the investigating officer in the case.
Kumar said that on Thursday evening police got a phonecall from the hospital informing hem about the death.
“Workers and passersby had taken her to the hospital after the pipe fell on her head. But she did not survive,” Kumar said.
Devi used to stay with her husband and four children at a rented accommodation in Prem Nagar.
The body was handed over to the family after autopsy, police said.
