BTS Members J-Hope an RM stir controversy after attending Chris Brown concert

Members of Korean boy band BTS, J-Hope and RM, have been facing backlash ever since the duo were seen enjoying and having a good time at Chris Brown’s concert. Taking to social media, J-Hope shared videos featuring himself and RM at the show. The duo seemed to be enjoying the concert. However, the posts quickly transcended them just attending the concert and have now sparked debate among fans and netizens.
Some fans of the famous K-Pop band, famously called the BTS ARMY, are criticising the band members for attending the concert mainly because of Brown’s controversial public history. Brown has reportedly faced allegations and has legal cases involving violence and sexual misconduct, making his concerts a debatable subject for some fans and artistes.
For some members of the BTS Army, J-Hope and RM’s decision to attend the concert felt inconsistent with the values the band usually associates with. The discussions on social media included the boy band’s fans’ disappointment, and many even questioned whether the two singers should have attended the show at all.
Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) saw one user write, “Chris Brown concert? Really? A man who nearly beat a woman to death? And your own fandom is mostly women? Wow...that’s a choice. You can do and listen to whatever you like, but at least don’t advertise it or give it positive attention online when you have such a huge influence.”
Another user wrote, “As a female BTS fan, I’m disappointed that Taehyung, Jungkook, Namjoon, and Hoseok support Chris Brown because it’s IMPOSSIBLE that they don’t know all the atrocities this awful man has committed against multiple women.”
The disappointment only kept growing as one user wrote, “They’re there for the music’ do NOTTTTTT play that bulls**t. chris brown is a well known abuser and usher is equally disgusting as well, people have the right to be disappointed in hobi and joon , bc it’s INCREDIBLY disappointing.”
As of now, neither RM nor J-Hope has addressed the criticism surrounding their concert appearance. The backlash is primarily driven by social media and fans’ reaction rather than an officially acknowledged controversy involving BTS or its management.
BTS recently concluded their performance in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 10 and 11, 2026, as part of their Arirang World Tour. The South Korean band will continue to perform across major North American stadiums through August, then move to South America in October, and finally head to Asia. The band recently included new dates in Jakarta and Bulacan toward late 2026 and early 2027.
