Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday reached the Delhi airport for a review amid concerns over congestion. This comes days after the civil aviation ministry had ordered a slew of measures at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). Visuals showed the minister talking with officials as he took stock of the arrangements.

In order to reduce congestion at the Terminal-3, ministry officials said that they will be reducing flights. "Discussions are going on with airlines to reduce flights during peak hours. As per discussion, proposal has been made to reduce 14 flights at T3, 11 in T2 and 8 in T1 flights was made," a ministry official had said on Saturday.
Scindia had also chaired a meeting with stakeholders last week after air passengers complained of increasing delays at major airports like those in Delhi and Mumbai. ‘’We are working with airlines to reduce peak hour departures,’’ a ministry official had told HT at the time. ”It’s all hands on deck,” the official was quoted as saying in the report. The Aviation Minister also said he will take stock of the security arrangements.
Among the slew of measures that were introduced were deployment of four additional traffic marshals (12 traffic marshals on the ground) at the departure forecourt to avoid vehicular congestion, awareness posters asking passengers to be ready with boarding cards at the entry gate, and an extra X-Ray machine at the Terminal-3.
Posters for do's and dont's for the passengers and additional manpower deployment in the Automatic Tray Return Systems (ATRS) area were among other steps.
Several videos had emerged on social media, raising concerns about the congestion at the airport. In a tweet, YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy V wrote: "The massive congestion at #DelhiAirport puts focus on the need to create additional and larger airports across India well in advance. This is why the @YSRCParty under CM @ysjagan garu is pursuing for the establishment of a modern, futuristic airport for Vizag at Bhogapuram. (sic)"
