“Early Sunday morning, police received information that the prime suspect was trying to flee, and he was spotted on a bike with another accomplice. The police were conducting checks by putting up barricades, and the bike was spotted. The men were asked to stop, but they did not comply and also opened fire at the police. The police fired in retaliation, and Asad sustained gunshot injuries. His accomplice fled the spot,” Dhawal Jaiswal, DCP (City), said.

“He was probably aged around 20 years,” the DCP said. However, police on Friday said the prime suspect was around 17 to 18 years old, but his age would be confirmed once apprehended.

An injured constable and the prime suspect were taken to a hospital, where the suspect was declared dead.

The 17-year-old boy had gone to a neighbourhood street in Lokpriya Vihar, where the prime suspect and his friends were present. The two allegedly got into an argument over a motorcycle, following which the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife, stabbed the 17-year-old, and fled. The victim was rushed to a hospital in Noida by locals and his family, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday afternoon.

The deceased Class 11 student is survived by his mother, sister, and brother. An FIR under BNS Section 109(1) (attempted murder) was registered at Khoda late Thursday evening. Police added BNS Section 103(1) (murder) after the deceased died on Friday.

Police on Saturday apprehended three persons in connection with the case.

The incident also drew protests in Khoda by members of right-wing organisations. On Saturday, police deployment was intensified in the area to prevent any untoward incident as the deceased and the suspect belonged to two different communities. Shops in the area also remained closed for most of the day.
