INDIA Mumbai meet highlights: Opposition's I.N.D.I.A bloc of 28 non-BJP parties will meet in Mumbai Thursday to plan road map for Lok Sabha election next year.

INDIA Mumbai meet highlights: The third meeting of I.N.D.I.A or Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance has concluded in Mumbai. 28-non Bharatiya Janata Party parties have come together as part of the alliance to defeat the Narendra Modi-led government in the Lok Sabha election next year. The INDIA leaders held earlier meetings in June and July. 

At the third meeting, many new developments have reportedly taken place, including its potential expansion, as indicated by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar; a discussion on seat sharing strategy, unveiling the group's new common logo among other agendas.

This was the first meeting since Rahul Gandhi, former Congress president and a key INDIA leader, was reinstated as a member of the Parliament earlier this month. He had lost his membership due to his conviction in the Modi surname remark case.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai ahead of the I.N.D.I.A meeting, Rahul Gandhi referred to news articles by foreign publishers on Adani. "These newspapers affect investment in India and the perception of India in the rest of the world. They are stating that over a billion dollars of money went from India, was circulated in different places and then came back to India”, he said.

INDIA bloc to meet first time since Rahul Gandhi reinstated as MP

INDIA Mumbai meet LIVE: INDIA parties will meet on Thursday for their two-day national level meeting in Mumbai, the first gathering since Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was reinstated as Lok Sabha MP earlier this month.

– Gandhi faced suspension from the Parliament over his conviction in Modi surname remark case. As per the law, a lawmaker invites disqualification upon being served a sentence of two years or more in a case.

– The former Congress president had been sentenced two years of jail term by a Gujarat court in the case.

– The case pertains to his remarks made during a rally ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Day ahead of INDIA meet, Sharad Pawar rules out chances of alliance with SAD, BSP

INDIA Mumbai meet LIVE: On the eve of INDIA coalition's two-day meet in Mumbai, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar ruled out any possibility of bringing Samyukta Akali Dal in the INDIA bloc and expressed doubts on Mayawati led BSP joining the coalition. 

– He said they have Congress and Aam Aadmi Party in the alliance and thus no they would refrain from taking any move that would cause differences among allies. 

– Pawar also stressed on making a common minimum programme (CMP) outlining the minimum objectives of the coalition that will also help in avoiding clashes as there are many parties with different ideologies.

INDIA Mumbai meet LIVE: Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav attacked PM Modi ahead of I.N.D.I.A bloc's third meet in Mumbai.

– Explaining purpose of his visit, he said "Mumbai mein Narendra Modi ke nareti pe chadhne jaa rahe hain humlog. Narendra Modi ka nareti pakde huye hain hum, hatana hai (We are going to climb on the throat of Narendra Modi. We have caught hold of his throat and we have to remove him," the RJD supremo told reporters in Patna.

INDIA Mumbai meet LIVE: A month after forming the grouping in Bengaluru, the INDIA parties are likely to discuss architecture, timeline and strategy, unveil a common logo and chalk out a mega public outreach programme with joint rallies.

–  The first time the bloc is trying a consorted campaign outside Parliament, three INDIA leaders said on the condition of anonymity.

– The INDIA leaders might also fix timelines for key tasks, evolve a social media plan, fix the schedule for the next meeting (to be held in north India), and consider a few resolutions, including one on electronic voting machines, said the leaders cited above.

As Oppn's coalition gathers, BJP led alliance to hold parallel meet

– The meetings aim to ensure that the opposition does not gain the upper hand.

– Chief minister Eknath Shinde has invited MLAs, MPs, district presidents and key leaders of the three ruling parties and their smaller allies for dinner on Thursday. Before it, there will be a formal meeting between them to take stock of the Lok Sabha preparation. 

– CM and his two deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, ministers and key leaders are expected to attend the meeting at Varsha, the official residence of the CM. 

– It will be followed by a detailed constituency-wise review by the leaders on Friday. By dividing the state into five regions, the leaders have been asked to attend them at NSCI, Worli throughout the day.
