Three women agricultural labourers died after a pickup vehicle carrying 24 workers collided with an electricity pole near Madnal village in Yadgir district, police said on Sunday. The workers were returning home after completing their daily wage work when the accident occurred.

Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Devendra Said Reddy told HT, “The labourers had left early in the morning around 6am to work in agricultural fields in Madnal village, where they were engaged in removing weeds from cotton crops. After completing their work, they were returning to their village in a pickup vehicle when the accident occurred at 9:30am near Madnal.”
“About 21 workers were injured , 14 of who were referred from Shahapur Hospital to Gulbarga for further treatment, and seven are undergoing treatment at Shahapur Hospital,” he added, stating that a 11-year-old boy has sustained severe head injury he is in critical condition.
The deceased workers were identified as Soubagya Shekappa Rkamagera (25 ), Honna Ningavva Rayappa (18) and Satyavva (35). A case has been registered, police said.
