Vande Bharat Express trains now operational on over 30 routes in India: See full list
Vande Bharat Express trains – part of the 'Make in India' initiative -- were launched in 2019. The first service started between Delhi and Varanasi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated nine new Vande Bharat Express trains to the nation ahead of the festival season. With this, the total number of these semi-high speed trains in India reached 34.

The Vande Bharat Express is India's first semi-highspeed train equipped with world-class passenger amenities. The first train in the series was flagged off between Delhi and Varanasi on February 15, 2019. These India’s first indigenous ‘semi high speed’ trains are manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Vande Bharat train routes:
1. New Delhi - Varanasi Vande Bharat Express: The first Vande Bharat train was flagged off on the New Delhi- Kanpur- Allahabad-Varanasi route on February 15, 2019. The train runs on five days except Monday and Thursday. The train departs from New Delhi railway station at 06:00 am and reaches Varanasi at 02:00 pm covering a distance of 759 km. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹1,287, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,661.
2. New Delhi - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (J&K) Vande Bharat Express: This Vande Bharat train runs between New Delhi station and Mata Vaishno Devi's base camp Katra, covering the distance in eight hours. The train runs on six days except Tuesday. The train departs from New Delhi railway station at 06:00 am and reaches Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 02:00 pm. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹1,154, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,375.
3. Gandhinagar- Mumbai Vande Bharat Express: This Vande Bharat Express was recently launched by PM Modi on September 30, 2022. The train runs on six days except Sunday. The train departs from Mumbai Central at 06:00 am and reaches Gandhinagar Capital station at 12:25 pm covering the distance of 522 km. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹974, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,018.
4. New Delhi - Amb Andaura in Himachal Pradesh Vande Bharat Express: The train runs on six days except Friday. The train departs from New Delhi railway station at 05:50 am and reaches Amb Anadaura at 11:05 am. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹832, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,708.
5. Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express: The train runs on six days except Wednesday. The train departs from Chennai at 05:50 am and reaches Mysuru Junction at 12:20 pm covering the distance of 401 km. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹922, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,884.
6. Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express: This train serves between Maharastra's Nagpur and Chattisgarh's Bilaspur. The train runs on six days except Saturday. The train departs from Nagpur railway station at 02:05 pm and reaches Bilaspur at 07:35 pm. From May 14, 2023, this train has been temporarily replaced by Tejas Express due to less occupancy on this route
7. Howrah - New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express: PM Modi virtually flagged off West Bengal's first Vande Bharat Express train on December 30, 2022. The train runs on six days except Wednesday. The train leaves Howrah Junction at 05:55 am and reaches New Jalpaiguri at 01:25 pm covering a distance of 454 km in seven hours and thirty minutes. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹1,044, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,142.
8. Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express: This train operates between Telangana's Secunderabad and Andhra Pradesh's port city of Visakhapatnam. The train runs on six days except Sunday. The train departs from Secunderabad Junction at 03:00 pm and arrives at Visakhapatnam Railway Station at 11:30 pm. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹1,207, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,485.
9. Mumbai- Solapur Vande Bharat Express: This train between Mumbai and Solapur runs on six days except Wednesday. The train departs from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal (CST) at 04:05 pm and reaches Solapur at 10:40 pm covering a 6 hours and 35-minute long journey. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹859, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,766.
10. Mumbai- Shirdi Vande Bharat Express: This Vande Bharat train runs between Mumbai CST station and Sainagar Shirdi, covering the distance in five hours and 20 minutes. The train departs at 06:20 am from Mumbai and reaches Shirdi at 11:40 am. The train runs on six days except Tuesday. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹694, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,436.
11. Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin- Bhopal's Rani Kamlapati station Vande Bharat Express: PM Modi on April 1 flagged off the 11th Vande Bharat Express train from the Rani Kamalapati station in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. The train operates from Bhopal to Hazrat Nizamuddin station instead of New Delhi railway station - to save time by half an hour. This train covers the distance of 700 km in seven hours and 45 minutes. It operates on six days except Saturday. It departs from Bhopal at 05:55 am and reaches Delhi at 01:45 pm. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹1,207, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,485.
12. Secunderabad- Tirupati Vande Bharat Express: The Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express, connecting IT City, Hyderabad with the Abode of Lord Venkateswara, Tirupati, is the second Vande Bharat train to be started from Telangana within a short span of three months. The train reduces the travel time between the two cities by almost three-and-a-half hours and benefit the passengers on pilgrimage. The train covers a distance of 660 km between the two cities in eight hours and 30 minutes. The train leaves at 06:00 am from Secunderabad and reaches Tirupati at 02:30 pm. It operates on six days except Tuesday. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹1,168, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,399.

13. Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express: This Vande Bharat train runs between Chennai and Coimbatore covering a distance of 495 km in six hours and 10 minutes. It operates on six days except Wednesday. The train departs from Coimbatore at 06:00 am and reach Chennai Central at 12:10 pm. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹921, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,880.
14. Ajmer-Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express: PM Modi virtually flagged off Rajasthan's first Vande Bharat train on April 25. The train runs on six days except Wednesday. The train leaves Delhi Cantt at 06:40 pm and reaches Ajmer at 11:45 pm covering a distance of 454 km in five hours and fifteen minutes. It is also the world's first semi-high-speed passenger train on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) territory. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹813, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,674.
15. Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod Vande Bharat Express: Kerala got its's first Vande Bharat Express train last month, connecting the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod. The train operates on six days except Thursday. It departs from Thiruvananthapuram at 05:20 am and reaches Kasaragod at 1:25 pm. Meanwhile, the train leaves Kasaragod at 02.30 pm and reaches Thiruvananthapuram at 10:35 pm. It covers the 586 km long journey in eight hours and five minutes while halting at 14 railway stations. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹1,068, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹2,194.
16. Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express: PM Modi virtually flagged off Odisha's first Vande Bharat train on May 19. The train connects Lord Jagannath's city Puri to West Bengal's Howrah. It operates six days a week (except Thursday). It departs from Puri at 01:50 pm and reaches Howrah at 08:30 pm, covering a distance of 502 km in six hours and forty minutes. The base fare for an AC chair seat is ₹964, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,985.
17. Dehradun- Delhi's Anand Vihar Terminus Vande Bharat Express: Uttarakhand's first Vande Bharat Express train was launched on May 25, which connects Delhi and Dehradun. The regular operations commenced on May 29. The train covers distance of 302 km in four hours and forty-five minutes. It operates six days a week, except Wednesday. It departs from Dehradun at 07:00 am and reaches Delhi's Anand Vihar terminal at 11:45 am. The fare for an AC chair seat from Delhi to Dehradun will be ₹1,065, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,890.
18. Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express: The latest addition to the list, Northeast's first Vande Bharat Express was launched on May 29 which connects Assam's Guwahati and West Bengal's New Jalpaiguri. The train covers distance of 409 km in five hours and thirty minutes. It operates six days a week, except Tuesday. It departs from Guwahati at 04:30 pm and reaches New Jalpaiguri at 10:00 pm. The base fare for an AC chair seat from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri will be ₹788, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,613.
19. Rani Kamalapati (Bhopal)-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express: This semi-high speed train will connect Madhya Pradesh Mahakaushal region (Jabalpur) to the Central region (Bhopal). Madhya Pradesh's second semi-high speed will operate between the two cities at the speed of 130 kmph. The train is expected to be faster by about thirty minutess as compared to the existing fastest train on the route.
20. Khajuraho-Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat Express: Madhya Pradesh's third semi-high speed train will operate between the state's Malwa region (Indore), Bundelkhand region (Khajuraho) and Central Region (Bhopal). The train is expected to benefit the tourist sites like Mahakaleshwar, Mandu, Maheshwar, Khajuraho, Panna. The train is expected be about about two hours and thirty minutes faster than the fastest existing train on the route.
21. Mumbai- Madgaon (Goa) Vande Bharat Express: Being's Goa's first semi-high speed train, it will operate between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station. The train will operate six days a week excpet Friday. The train is expected to save the journey time by about an hour as compared to the existing trains on the route. The railway ministry had cancelled the launch of the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train after the Odisha tragedy.
22. Dharwad–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express: Karnataka is set to get another semi-high speed blue-whote train which will connect key cities like Dharwad, Hubballi and Davangere - with state capital Bengaluru. The train is expected to be faster by about thirty minutes as compared to the existing fastest train in the route. This will be second Vande Bharat train for Karnataka as the first one runs between Chennai, Bengaluru and Mysuru.
23. Hatia-Patna Vande Bharat Express: This semi-high speed train would be the first Vande Bharat for Jharkhand and Bihar. A senior officer of the South Eastern Railway at Ranchi had earlier said that though the route chart is not confirmed, but as per the discussion, the train is likely to run via Tatisilwai, Mersa, Shanki, Barkakana, Hazaribag, Koderma and Gaya. It is expected save about one hour and twenty five minutes journey time, when compared with the current fastest train on the route.
24. Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express: Expected to become a preferred pilgrimage route, connecting two prominent temples in Uttar Pradesh - Ram Janmabhoomi and Gorakhnath. It will reduce travel time between Lucknow and Gorakhpur to a little over four hours, making Ayodhya just two hours away from both cities. The train is set to commence its regular service starting from July 9.
25. Jodhpur-Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express: This semi-high-speed train will operate between Rajasthan's Jodhpur and Gujarat's Ahmedabad. The train will also connect Pali, Abu Road, Palanpur and Mehsana on the route.
26. Kacheguda-Yesvantpur Vande Bharat Express: This train service between Bengaluru and Hyderabad. This will be the fastest train between the two cities with least journey time.
27. Vijayawada – MGR Chennai Central train: The Vijayawada-MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express will be operated between Vijayawada and MGR Chennai Central of Tamil Nadu via Tenali, Ongole, Nellore and Renigunta of Andhra Pradesh. The train consists of one executive chair and seven chair car coaches with a total seating capacity of 530 passengers.
28. Kasaragod - Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat train: This train will connect these two locations in the south Indian state of Kerala.
29. Jaipur - Udaipur Vande Bharat train: The Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat train will be the third Vande Bharat train of Rajasthan. Its regular service will start from September 25. The train will run six days a week (except Tuesday).
30. Tirunelveli - Chennai Vande Bharat train: Tirunelveli-Madurai- Chennai Vande Bharat Express will enhance connectivity with the important religious town of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
31. Jamnagar - Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express: As compared to the current fastest train along the route, the Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express in Gujarat will be faster by about 1 hour.
32. Ranchi - Howrah Vande Bharat train: The regular run of the Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express is set to begin on September 27. This train will be operational six days a week and is designed to complete the 463 km distance in just seven hours. The fare between Ranchi and Howrah will be ₹2,045 for Executive AC Chair Car, and ₹1,030 for AC Chair Car without meal.
33. Rourkela - Puri Vande Bharat train: The new train service connecting Puri and Rourkela will significantly reduce travel time, covering the distance in just seven hours and thirty minutes. Departing from Puri at 5:00 am, the train will swiftly make its way to Rourkela, reaching its destination at 12:45 pm on the same day, while at 2:10 pm from Rourkela and arriving back in Puri at 9:40 pm on the same day.
34. Patna - Howrah Vande Bharat Express: According to the officials, the new rakes for the Patna-Howrah and Ranchi-Howrah routes will have 25 added features. The aim is expected to elevate the overall travel experience for passengers. Notably, this train service is poised to establish a new speed record, covering a distance of 535 km in just about 6 hours and 30 minutes.
