45 passengers get upgraded berth

THE RAILWAY passenger up-gradation scheme benefited 45 passengers who got higher berths travelling in the Habibganj-Hazrat Nizamuddin Shan-e-Bhopal Express on Saturday.
The scheme was implemented in Bhopal division from February 24. A total of eight passengers got upgraded from AC-II to AC-I as the berths were vacant in the latter category.
These passengers included RS Verma, Anees, MC Tyagi, Kunvir, M Garg, H Puri, P Paul and A W Hasan. These passengers had paid Rs 1195 as fare from Habibganj to Hazrat Nizamuddin but got berths in AC-I that has a fare of Rs 2246, said Railway PRO Anil Jain.
Similarly, reservation of 18 passengers who were in AC III was upgraded to higher category. Also, the 19 passengers who were travelling in sleeper got into the AC-III compartment.
In all, 45 passengers got benefit of the scheme in the train. The scheme was launched in 30 trains from February 6, but initially there was no train starting from Bhopal. It got implemented in the division from February 18. The conditions for the scheme are that the passengers should board the train from originating station and he or she should not have availed any sort of concession in the fare under any category.
