Airlines are deliberating on whether to increase passenger fares as the government has increased customs duty on aviation turbine fuel and imposed service tax on air travel.

A final decision is yet to be taken.

“We are measuring the impact and would take a decision in a week,” Vijay Mallya, chairman & CEO, Kingfisher Airlines said.

“Airlines are entering low travel (fare) phase and whether fares could be hiked or not need to be studied,” said Arvind Jadhav, CMD, Air India.
