Meraas Holding, a Dubai-headquartered firm, has announced the launch of a theme park based on the Indian film industry’s biggest hits. And it’s not just Indian films, but big Hollywood films that will serve as inspiration for the park.

The destination, which is still unnamed, is a first-of-its kind theme park, and will feature amusement rides, food and beverage concepts, theatrical renditions, character merchandising, retail outlets and more, in settings that range from old classics to the latest box-office hits. Filmmaker Ritesh Sidhwani is the brand ambassador for the project and is currently advising Meraas on the films that can be incorporated at the park.

Ritesh tells us, “They’ve tied up with two big Hollywood studios to get rights to feature rides based on their films. From India, about 10-12 films make it to the final list. I’ve also recommended some films from the south. A formal announcement that will have the list of all the movies will be made next month.”
