On Saturday, some schools brought their students to the fair. Some of the vendors offered an extra discount over and above the flat 10 per cent off given by all stalls at the fair.

“I always visit such fairs in the last one or two days, when one can indulge in hectic bargaining as stall owners and managers too want to clear as much stock as possible before going away,” said Ramesh Chauhan. He also handed out some tips on visiting and getting the best out of book fairs. “Instead of buying books right away, one should simply browse through the stalls and jot down the names and prices of books that fancy you, along with the number or name of the stall.

On the last day, you could come down with the list and get the best possible deal,” said Ramesh, whose list comprised 72 books, half of which he had gathered by Saturday evening.

“We are not extending the fair. But, we will be back with a bigger one next year,” said Devraj Arora, the coordinator of the fair that was organised by the Federation of Publishers’ & Booksellers’ Associations in India, New Delhi.

The people also faced some problems about entering and exiting the Balrampur Garden due to the UPSRTC city buses parked all along the road on both sides as they were on protest. This had led to movement of traffic near the venue.

Moreover, with too much crowd getting in the venue, the managers at the parking lots too faced a lot of problems, as vehicles spilled out of the designate parking areas.
