Children festival Balrang 2006 concludes

THE TWO-day national cultural fiesta for school children ? Balrang 2006 concluded at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya. Finance Minister Raghavji was the chief guest at the concluding session while School Education Minister Dr Narottam Mishra presided.

THE TWO-day national cultural fiesta for school children – Balrang 2006 concluded at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya. Finance Minister Raghavji was the chief guest at the concluding session while School Education Minister Dr Narottam Mishra presided.

Troupe from Chandigarh bagged the first spot in the national level folk dance competition held earlier in the day.
The second spot was taken by troupe from Himachal Pradesh while teams of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh jointly shared the third spot.

Manipur team was given the consolation prize. The guests gave the prizes away. Narottam Mishra inspected the various state-specific tableaux presented by the students of City schools. The tableaux featured the specific culture of the states.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the main objective of the festival was to familiarise the children with the colourful and varied culture and heritage of the country. Raghavji expressed happiness that such a grand function was held and said that it seemed that a mini-India had been established on the premises of the Manav Sangrahalaya.

As for the tableaux, he said that the students had managed to bring forth various cultural specialties of the country in a vivid manner. Director of the IGRMS Prof Kishore Basa lauded the participation level of the children and extended best wishes to representatives from various states.

Commissioner of Public Instruction L S Baghel said that the huge success of event has encouraged the department to hold it at a wider scale in future.
