“The party tends to encourage the young leadership in the Assembly elections and most of the candidates would be young. The party wants to present entirely a new breed of leaders before the masses,” he said. He was here to attend a party function organised at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar where leaders held long deliberations on party strategy.
Meanwhile, UPCC chief Salman Khurshid said over 60 per cent of the district unit heads would be changed before the State Assembly elections. The decision, he said, was to infuse new blood in the leadership. This was for the first time that Khurshid had given clear indication for a total revamp of the district units.
Majority of district presidents likely to be axed are those who have been capturing the chair for more than two years.
