A married couple, while arguing over their son?s kite flying, doused each other with kerosene and set each other on fire.

A married couple, while arguing over their son’s kite flying, doused each other with kerosene and set each other on fire on Sunday morning. The incident happened in Faizullahganj, Madiaon, Lucknow. The couple suffered 85 per cent burns and their condition is stated to be critical.

Vinod Sonkar, a daily wager was at home while his eldest son was flying kite. After substantial time of kite-flying, Vinod asked his son to come back home. But the son was reluctant and continued the sport. At this Vinod beat his son. The wife Lallu Sonkar did not like Vinod beating up the son. An argument ensued. In that moment of rage, one picked up a can of kerosene and wanted to put it on other.

There was a scuffle, and in the scuffle both ended up getting drenched with kerosene. And then one lit a match. Both caught fire. Screaming they ran out of their hut. People gathered around and then some attempted to put off the fire, but by the time the fire was put off, both were badly burnt. At the hospital the burns were assessed to be eighty-five per cent.
