DDU staff strike paralyses work

THE NORMAL functioning of the administrative building of the DDU-Gorakhpur University remained paralysed on Thursday, following a strike by the university employees association.

They struck work due to the authorities’ failure to fulfill their demands.
The employees charged the vice-chancellor with adopting delaying tactics regarding their demands.

Presiding over a meeting, president of the union said various political parties decided to support the employees.

Former Member of the Legislative Council and Samajwadi Party leader Devendra Pratap Singh reached the place where the employees were staging a dharna and extended his support to the agitators.

Singh said owing to negative attitude of the finance officer, the problems of the university employees increased.

He further said that he would urge the government to take an appropriate action against the finance officer.

Congress leader and former general secretary of the Gorakhpur University Students’ Union Chandra Prakash Tripathi and State Employees’ Association office bearers also extended their support to the strike.

Senior SP leaders Rajesh Singh Sainthwar, Lallan Ram, Brij Bhushan Mishra, Mustafa Ansari and others said that neglecting attitude of university authorities had complicated the matter .
