Air India’s Delhi-Hyderabad flight (IC 839) started taxiing at its scheduled departure time of 4.45 pm from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport when lights of the cabin area of the aircraft, where the passengers sit, suddenly went off.

The passengers panicked and started shouting at the cabin crew. The plane had to come back to rectify the problem and in the process the flight was delayed by one hour and fifteen minutes.

“The lights inside the cabin area of the flight went off due to a technical fault,” said a senior Air India official who is not authorized to speak to the media.

“The flight took off at 6 pm after the problem in the power unit was rectified,” he added.
