businessman husband, Robert Vadra.

“She is not into brands. So my gifts to her are things like books and music,” 40-year-old Vadra was quoted as saying in an interview to People magazine.

Vadra said he met Priyanka when they were students at the British School in Delhi. “I thought she was interested in me,” he said of Priyanka, three years his junior. When they decided to marry, there was no proposal on bended knees, he said. “We just talked about it and then our families met and it was all okay.”

He was clear from day one that no one should take advantage of his position. “I had new responsibilities (to Priyanka’s family). I was very particular about keeping boundaries sacrosanct.”

While enjoying parenthood, Vadra says it is Priyanka who is hands-on with their children, 9-year-old Raihan and Miraya, 7.

“I work to pay the family bills... and I crib sometimes when the bills are too high.”
