Kantha work is basically an old art form of Bangladesh that has been revived on cotton and silk material. A rare thing on cotton sarees the kantha work is completely thread work with occasional usage of mirrors in the design. The range for sarees begins from Rs 1,500 and goes up to Rs 6000.

Shaila explained that sarees are embroidered with proper threads and colour combinations to suit the material. There are sarees with combination of cotton and silk as base fabric.

All the designs are exclusive and completely in-house. Then there are pure silk dupattas with heavy kantha work. The dupattas are available in multicolour and single colour patterns. They are priced between Rs 1,600 and Rs 2,400.

The kaftan pieces with kantha work can be bought from this exhibition at Rs 600 each. Jamdani saree that is worn for marriage functions in Bengal is displayed in the exhibition. This saree falls in the party wear range. A saree may take as long as six to eight months to be designed and embroidered completely. The exhibition would remain open for the people till March 19.
