Krishna does'nt see Vajpayee wave in Karnataka

Seeking a renewed mandate on the basis of four and half years of his government's performance, Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna today said he did not see a Vajpayee wave in the run-up to the elections in the state.

"What is the wave you say, I don't see it," Krishna said as he embarked on the third leg of his "Vijaya Dhundubi Yatra" to campaign for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the Kanakapura Lok Sabha constituency.

Janata Dal (S) President and Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda is simultaneously contesting from both Kanakapura and Hassan seats, while Congress has fielded in Kanakapura, a new political entrant, television journalist Tejaswini Sriramesh.

"There have been a lot of developmental works undertaken by the government despite natural and manmade difficulties. I will continue providing good governance if our party is reelected," he said, addressing a rally in Ramanagara (an assembly constituency in Bangalore rural).

"Vajpayee is irrelevant in Ramanagara. How will Vajpayee or Advani be relevant in Bidadi or Ramangara," he said, during his yatra, addressing street corner meetings at Kengeri and Bidadi.

He emphasised that local issues will eclipse national issues in both the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Krishna said the thrust of his campaign would be achievements of his four and half years government." The achievement is going to be the manifesto".
