Maharashtra gives all-clear to Thums Up, Limca after tests

State Food and Drug Administration said the samples from Coke's Pune plant didn't have pesticides.

In some much-needed relief for the cola companies, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday gave the all clear signal to aerated drinks in the State.

The FDA said that the samples of Thums Up and Limca from Coca-Cola's Pune plant that were tested in Mumbai did not have any detectable levels of pesticides in it. However, they have yet to test the Coke samples.

Earlier, a local inspector had banned the sale of stocks worth Rs 66 lakh from the Coca-Cola plant after the Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment published a report about pesticide contamination in leading soft drink brands in the country.
