Taking cognisance of the media reports suggesting that the 200-year-old ‘dargaah’ was wrongly labelled as an encroachment and later razed, the commission condemned the demolition and the subsequent police firing.

The commission expressed its concern over the situation in Gujarat and the action of municipal officials without taking the communities in confidence.

Also, the commission has denounced militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir that led to the death of 36 persons in Doda and Udhampur.

Commission chairman Anwar Mohammad Khan and the other members expressed their concern over the killings of innocent citizens, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
