The government had decided the 'international' park, which would highlight the message of peace, would come up at a place where the famous Kalinga war had been waged, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told the visiting Japanese Consul General Keniji Shimizu.

Shimizu, who called on the Chief Minister, assured that Japan would cooperate in promoting Buddhist tourism places in Orissa, official sources said.

The two also discussed implementation of Rs 428 crore Kanpur Irrigation Project and Rs 200 crore Rengali Stage II project and afforestation programme undertaken by government.

Shimizu also met Governor MM Rajendran at the Raj Bhavan where social, cultural and economic issues were discussed, the sources said.
