"It was good meeting. We had general discussions about various schemes. We also discussed about implementation of NKC's recommendations," he told PTI.

Pitroda said he also congratulated Singh on becoming the Prime Minister for the second term.

The NKC, which was set up by the Prime Minister in 2005 with the mandate to suggest measures to transform the country into a knowledge society, has made several path-breaking recommendations, including a regulatory authority for education and setting up of 1500 universities.

However, the recommendations have not been implemented by the HRD Ministry due to lack of "consensus".

HRD Minister Kapil Sibal, soon after assuming charge, had said that recommendations of the panel are pivotal for creation of knowledge society. He said the ministry will go into the recommendations and implement whatever is feasible.
