Pranab on three-day visit to Oman from March 10

The Minister in the course of his visit will hold discussions with top leadership of the country on defence cooperation.

In a move to boost exports of Indian armament systems in the Gulf, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee is undertaking a three-day visit to Sultanate of Oman from Friday.

Heading a high-level defence delegation, including top brass from Navy, Air Force and Army, the Minister in the course of his visit will hold discussions with top leadership of the country on defence cooperation.

The visit is part of high-level exchanges between the two countries coinciding with celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between India and Oman.

"The visit is indicative of the commitment of the leadership of both countries to consolidate and strengthen the existing relations including closer cooperation in the defence sphere," a Defence Ministry spokesman said.

The minister will also be meeting members of Indian community.
