Once known as V3, Noxious and HighJinks, now Soul Rebellion, a band formed by a group of talented and enthusiastic students in the State capital, is out “prove things”! The basic idea behind this band was absolutely their love for music and of course an urge to make their own place in the local music world.
This band had seen many performers during three years duration but Jatin is there from the day one, a student of Class XII at Spring Dale College. According to Jatin, “We want to make a revolution in the field of music.” The other rocking members include Manuj, perusing his veterinary studies, Richie, a B.Com final year student, Swapnil pursuing engineering, Romeo a graduate, Jayant a student of Class XII of Spring Dale College and Priyank studing BBA. Together they say, “Our band doesn’t follow anyone and we try to make something different. We want to take our band to the Zenith.”
One thing common to all of them is music, their first love. Apart from it, they like playing basketball and cricket. They are average students not having any great achievement in studies but they definitely want to taste success in music as they want to participate in GIR (Great Indian Rock Show). They have Black Sadbath & Zakkwylde as their role models. They have plans to appear for CAT or see other avenues career-wise but music is one thing to which they don’t want to say good-bye.
All their efforts have a big ‘NO’ from their parents’ side as none of the parents have a very positive view of their band. The parents see the band only as hobby but the boys are serious.
A dream seen by them jointly in the year 2003 is going to be fulfilled this month. Launch of their first promotional album with the name of Soul Rebellions is expected in the end of September 2006. It inclues seven tracks of which five are self-composed and two are the artist’s tracks having ‘Bulla ki jana’ by Rabbi and ‘Last resort’ by Papa Roach. Other tracks are ‘Do pal’, ‘Teri yaadein’, ‘Rahein,’ ‘Black sun’ and ‘O! Jesus’.
These young talented students found few takers for their music initially but things are changing. They have performed at Lucknow Mahotsava, Anandi Water Park, Saharaganj and presently doing shows for HT PACE. Juggling studies, careers and a hobby is not easy but they know how to handle things and are heading for good times. Indeed.
