Rs 125 crore plan for supplying drinking water

Rajasthan Government has sanctioned Rs 125 crore contingency plan for supplying drinking water in drought hit districts. 4,000 hand pumps would be installed in rural areas at a cost of Rs 20 crores.

Rajasthan Government has sanctioned Rs 125 crore contingency plan for supplying drinking water in drought affected districts. The scheme was sanctioned at a meeting of officials, chaired by Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) minister C P Joshi here yesterday.

Under the contingency plan 4,000 hand pumps would be installed in rural areas at a cost of Rs 20 crores besides construction of 300 tubewells in villages at a cost of Rs 18 crores.

Similarly as many as 700 hand pumps and 150 tubewells would be laid in urban areas. While Udaipur city had been sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs, Jodhpur had been given Rs 47 lakhs, Bhilwara city Rs 32 lakhs and Tonk Rs 20 lakhs for making arrangements for drinking water.
