The 28-year-old actress plays Viking princess Freya in the action-adventure and added mass to her skinny body to justify her role.

“I had to flaunt a bare midriff, wearing only fur and leather in the movie and hence I took two stiff gin and tonics before I did it. I put on about a stone (14 pounds) intentionally for that film because life models are not skinny and I don't think men like skinny girls too,” Sophia told IANS over e-mail from Los Angeles, US.

Having released in the US on January 23 to a mixed response, Outlander is releasing Friday in India.

Other actors in the film include John Hurt and Jim Caviezel apart from Sophia. The movie will simultaneously also release in Hindi with the title Kurukshetra.
