This was what experts had to say at the workshop on the 11th Five-Year Plan organised jointly, today, by UP Government and the UNICEF.
UNICEF State representative Nimal Hettiaratchy said despite all attempts, UP still has 25 per cent share in infant mortality in the country. About 50 per cent mothers are anaemic, when they go for delivery and only 40 per cent people get iodized salt. Dr Hettiaratchy was giving a presentation on the state of health care facilities and their utility in UP.
Chief secretary R Ramni, was of the view that district-wise health indicators should be prepared as State-wise indicators were not helpful in proper implementation of programmes effectively.
