Deaf and dumb students block road in city

a Large number of deaf and dumb students of Vimal Chandra Ghosh Mook Badhir Vidhyalaya on Tuesday staged a chakka-jam on the Gurubagh-Rathyatra road.

The local residents, accompanying these deaf and dumb students, said the students very often met with accidents due to fast driving by auto-rickshaws on the road leading to school.

As these these students could not listen the horns of these auto-rickshaws, the auto-drivers often hit them, alleged Gopal Yadav, demanding an immediate ban on the rash driving by auto-rickshaws. Besides, there were two more schools, Bhartiya Shishu Mandir and Gopal Public School, on the same road, they said.

Later, police reached the spot and pacified the agitated students and residents. A picket duty was deployed at Tel Wala Dharmashala to check entry of auto-rickshaws. Police also assured the agitators that they would deploy picket duty outside Ramkrishna Vidya Mandir to check fast driving by auto-rickshaws.
