Yousuf Youhana

india Updated: Mar 07, 2005 22:25 IST

Date of Birth: 27 August 1974, Lahore
Test Debut: Against South Africa at Durban in 1997/98
ODI Debut: Against Zimbabwe at Harare in 1997/98
 Bats: Right Hand Bat

Yousuf Youhana is an elegant strokeplayer who would perhaps walk into any side in world cricket.

The mainstay of Pakistan's batting line-up, Youhana's abilities to score quickly and stay at the crease make him a real asset.

One of the very few Christians to play for Pakistan, Youhana has established himself as a gutsy and fluent middle-order batsman who can be relied upon.

Technically sound, he is difficult to dislodge once settled. He is one of those batsmen who collects runs at will without making it obvious.

The right-handerboasts an impressive one-day average in excess of 40 with the highest score being 141 against South Africa.

Strengths: Good technique; consistent.

Weaknesses: Very difficult to come up with one.

What others say: "Yousuf Youhana is the key man in the Pakistani middle-order. He can play strokes, can also blunt the attack, and there is an element of solidity about his ways at the crease." S Dinakar, cricket columnist.
