Youth shot dead in Teliabagh area

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy was shot dead by some men in Raniamahal locality of Teliabagh under the Chetganj police station on Thursday night. Police have arrested one of the four named accused and seized a licensed rifle. The cause of murder is stated to be a dispute between the deceased boy and another youth two days back. The deceased has been identified as Ravi. SSP Varanasi GK Goswani also rushed to the spot, who was gheoraoed by the irate mob.

The cause of murder is stated to be a dispute between the deceased boy and another youth two days back. The deceased has been identified as Ravi. SSP Varanasi GK Goswani also rushed to the spot, who was gheoraoed by the irate mob.

The locals agitated with murder, turned violent and attacked the residence of assailants in the same locality, ransacked household items and set a part of house on fire. Police are trying to arrest the remaining accused and establish real cause of murder.

Tension gripped Teliabagh following the murder and shops of the area were closed. Jawans of police, PAC and Central Reserve Police Force have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

According to information, Om Prakash, owns a medical shop, and a general store-cum- PCO in his house in Teliabagh. Ravi, was the youngest amongst his four sons. Arvind is the son of a muscleman-cum-BSP activist, Pappu Singh, a resident of Raniamahal, adjacent to Teliabagh locality.

It is said that on Thursday night at around 9.30 pm, Raju was standing near a tea stall when Arvind reached there and took him to a nearby place for conversation. During the talks, they exchanged heated words, soon, BSP activist Pappu Singh, his two sons, Arvind, Amit and a private security guard chased the boy. He made an abortive attempt to flee the scene but chasing persons opened several shots on him. After sustaining bullets, he slumped to the floor bleeding profusely. Attackers soon fled the scene.

Locals rushed the injured to a private hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.

Tension sparked off in the area soon after the news of fatal attack on Ravi. The locals raided the nearby house of BSP activist Pappu Singh.


When, the irate crowd did not find any of the male members there, the crowd beat up some female members of the assailant’s family. They also ransacked the household property and set some part of house on fire.

Seeing violent mood of the crowd, cops from different police stations in a large number rushed the spot to control the situation. Police soon arrested Amit, son of Pappu Singh, and recovered a licenced rifle from his possession.

A named FIR against four persons has been lodged with police in this connection. The accused include, Pappu Singh, Arvind, Amit and Jang Bahadur.

Absconding Pappu Singh, has illegally taken possession of a big house in the area after evicting the owner and many old tenants.
