A deaf and mute five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a 16-year-old boy on Monday night under Raoji police station area in Indore.

A deaf and mute five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a 16-year-old boy on Monday night under Raoji police station area in Indore. The police have lodged a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested the accused.

“We have arrested the accused minor and booked him under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO. Further investigation in the case is going on,” Raoji Bazar town inspector Chandrabhan Singh Chadar told HT.

As per the police, when the girl was alone in her house on Sunday evening, the accused forced her into his room and sexually assaulted her.

The victim’s mother was away when the incident took place. “The accused, who is (the victim’s) neighbour, took her to another house and sexually assaulted her,” said TI Chadar.

The TI added that when the mother returned, the girl revealed the incident, following which the mother lodged a complaint.

“We launched a manhunt after the case was lodged and the accused was later arrested,” said the TI.
