Section 144 imposed in Indore ahead of panchayat elections

In the wake of Panchayat elections, Indore collector has imposed section 144 CrPC in Indore. District administration has prohibited carrying of weapons and use of loudspeakers to maintain peace.

In the wake of Panchayat elections, Indore collector has imposed section 144 CrPC in Indore city.'District administration has prohibited carrying of any weapons, cavalcade of vehicles and loudspeakers in the city to maintain peace in the city. This order, however, does not prevent bona fide followers of the Sikh religion from carrying ‘Kirpan'.

The prohibition orders are applicable from Thursday. No rally will be taken out without the permission of the administration. No school, road and other government premises will be used by the political parties for gatherings or meetings. No firecrackers are allowed in the city except for New Year celebrations on January 1.

The prohibitory orders also include raising slogans against or for any religion which could hurt the sentiments of a community. Further no pamphlets will be distributed in this regard in the public space.

Directions have also been issued to owners of the private organizations and individuals to submit the ID proofs of drivers, hired by them, at the concerned police station of the district. Action will be taken under relevant Sections of IPC if anyone is found flouting the directions.
