Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians: Road to Qualifier 2 in IPL 2017
Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders would be eager to avenge their twin defeats in the league stage when they face old foes Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 Qualifer 2.
Kolkata Knight Riders will clash against Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. A look at the
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
Key matches: Kolkata Knight Riders started the tournament well, winning four of their five matches before losing to Gujarat Lions. They bounced back, skittling out Royal Challengers Bangalore for 49 before chasing down big totals in style. The game against Sunrisers Hyderabad too should boost their morale as they had won just one out of their last five games but showed character in restricting them for 128 before chasing down the target.
Big performances: No one would have imagined that Sunil Narine would score the fastest half-century in IPL. The West Indian has been relishing the new role and has been on a roll since opening the batting on a few occasions. Also, the way KKR bowlers skittled out RCB for just 49 was another power-packed performance from the former champions. They did a tidy job on Wednesday as well, restricting the defending champions to just 128.

MUMBAI INDIANS
Key matches:
Usually slow starters, Mumbai Indians took the tournament by storm this season and went top of the table early on and consolidated their position. Led by skipper Rohit Sharma, they made the most of the initial schedule where they had to play eight matches in the space of 18 days. They won six of those eight games while losing twice to finalists Rising Pune Supergiant, against whom they lost the first Qualifier on Tuesday as well. They’ve evolved as a side and look capable of taking on any opposition. They gave a glimpse of that at the Wankhede when they almost chased down Kings XI Punjab’s 230/3 a few days back.

Big performances
Parthiv Patel (377) and Kieron Pollard (369) lead the batting chart for Mumbai Indians, while the bowling department is loaded with impressive performers like Mitchell McClenaghan (19), Jasprit Bumrah (15) and Krunal Pandya (10). The bench strength too is as good as the side. They had fielded a second-string side against Kolkata Knight Riders during their last home game and still came managed to emerge victorious. Things, however, didn’t go to plan during the Qualifier against Rising Pune Supergiant on Tuesday. But with such talent at their disposal, they’re bound to bounce back.
