How to get your squat right? Expert demonstrates
"Get your squat right.. here are a few common mistakes while doing a squat.. time to get it right," wrote Namrata as she performed squats for her Instagram fans.
Squats are an important part of strength training routines. The exercise involves lowering the hips from a standing position and sitting with the back straightened in a half-sitting position. With the feet on the floor and the arms bent together, this helps in balancing the body on just the feet and the hips. However, this fitness routine also involves perfection. When not done perfectly, it can lead to several injuries. Most importantly, it requires the back to be straightened and the hips positioned properly. Fitness trainer Namrata Purohit, who is known for training several Bollywood celebrities such as Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, and others, shared a short video of herself demonstrating the do's and don'ts that are to be followed while performing squats.

In the video, Namrata performed the mistakes and demonstrated what not to do while performing squats – it involves knees falling in, positioning the spine in a rounded form and not straightened, pushing the knees too much forward and lastly, leaning forward while performing the routine. She also performed the correct way of doing squats. Namrata wrote that the knees should be aligned with hip and the ankles. She also wrote that we should sit back and keep the back aligned. Instead of pushing the knees forward too much, we should perform squats thinking of sitting back. "Get your squat right.. here are a few common mistakes while doing a squat.. time to get it right," wrote Namrata in the caption. Take a look at the do's and don'ts that are to be followed to avoid mistakes in performing squats:
Squats help in burning calories and losing weight. They also help in working out of the hip muscles, calves, hamstrings and the obliques. Squats also help in strengthening the bones, tendons and ligaments around the leg muscles, thereby lowering the risk of injuries in the knees and the ankles.
