BV Nayak is the Congress candidate in Raichur for 2019 elections too. The constituency has been represented the Nayak family five times, once by BV Nayak and four times by his father AV Nayak.
Raichur in Karnataka is a reserved Lok Sabha seat. BV Nayak of the Congress is the sitting MP. Nayak managed to win the 2014 elections by a slender margin of 1499 votes. He had defeated Shivanagouda Nayak of the BJP.

Congress is fighting the elections in Karnataka in an alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular), led by Deve Gowda. Voting for the Lok Sabha election in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 18 and April 23. The results will be declared on May 23.
