A fatwa was issued against Nida by Barelvi clerics allegedly for criticising the practice of instant triple talaq and halala.
“We met Nida and heard about the case of domestic violence and the recent fatwa. We have also asked Bareilly district administration to provide her security,” commission member Rumana Siddique told reporters in Bareilly after the meeting . “We will also visit the family of her in-laws for the other part of the story before compiling our report,” she added.
Nida Khan was married into the family of Ahmed Raza aka Ala Hazrat. She claims to have been given divorce through instant Triple Talaq.
The commission has also sought report from the local administration regarding the matters pertaining to Nida .
